Quantitative analysis of D/L-serine and D/L-proline in serum by isotope-coded derivatization using an original chiral resolution labeling reagent
Reference
Research Summary:
D-Serine (D-Ser) is a significant co-agonist of the NMDA receptor, crucial for excitatory neurotransmission and linked to neuropsychiatric disorders like Alzheimer's disease (AD), schizophrenia, and depression. A study developed a quantitative method for measuring D/L-serine and D/L-proline in serum using isotope-coded derivatization and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, achieving high precision and recovery rates. Results showed significantly elevated %D values of serine and proline in AD patients compared to healthy subjects, indicating the potential of this method for biomarker studies in neuropsychiatric disorders.
